Praying Mantis's Discography

Last Modified On 21 Mar 2009
Predator In Disguise reviewed by Edwin Baeyens on Wed, 26 Jul 2000

Oh, how I'd been searching for this album when I first heard of its existence. I was a Mantis fan since their first album, but never heard anything from them again, until I heard about this album. Not knowing the correct channels to order this kind of obscure CD's yet, it took me years to get it! But no matter how much of a Praying Mantis fan I am, I was disappointed with this one.

I was misinformed that Pau Di'Anno was singing on this album; it wasn't too much of a disappointment when he wasn't. But still, with Steve Carroll gone and Tino not singing anymore, there seems to be something missing in the vocal department.

There are some vintage Praying Mantis songs here: "Can't See the Angels", "Time Slipping Away", "Battle Royal" are some of the best things they've ever done, but for every good song there's a poor one as well. And I can just barely forgive them for "She's Hot", the most horrible little thing they've ever done. They've redeemed themselves since then of course, but this remains my least favourite Mantis album ever.
