Praying Mantis's Discography

Last Modified On 21 Mar 2009
Predator In Disguise reviewed by Todd Carper on Tue 04/29/03
One of my favorite Cd's from one of my favorite bands. I found them in 1981 while living in Germany, and lost them for almost 15 years. Found this CD through an import deal in the mid 90's, and it was truly music to my ears.

I was a little upset that Steve Carroll was gone, but I knew of Dennis Stratton from his Iron Maiden days (another favorite) so I decided to give it a chance; I was NOT sorry I did.

My favorite songs on this (and the 1st cd Time Tells) were the tunes sung by Chris Troy; it is a little surprising the band has employed an outside voice though both Tony O'Hara and Colin Peel were/are great singers. The vocal harmonies (as always) are lush and endearing, the guitar work excellent as always. The Beauty of the Mantis sound though is in the vocal harmonies and the upbeat lyrics.

Favorite individual trax include Can't See the Angels from Here, Battle Royal, and the phenomenal Borderline. This cd is a masterpiece for people who like lush vocal harmonies, exceptional lead guitar work, and hooks that jump out and grab you. I would highly recommend it, as I said, I am a huge fan and this is one of my favorite discs by them.

I hope Chris sings more leads!!!
